Auntie When Are You Going to Take my Picture???

These are the words that came out of my middle niece about a month ago… Of course I agreed to do it… I love that she asked.. It has now become a tradition that I do a portrait session with them, and the fact that they look forward to it is a bonus…  

My poor niece was born in February, in New England to add on top of that, and since I do most of my shooting outdoors I knew that locations would be hard to come by. There had also had been a recent storm that left behind a good four feet of snow. I had to channel in my inner Tim Gunn and “make it work“. The apartment I live in has a lot of good natural light thanks to very big windows in the living room. That became the spot for her formal pictures… If you look at past birthday shoots you can see that I like to add something they currently love to do… Well as luck would have it she loves playing in the snow… It was above forty that day, so we both bundled up and went for it.
