Sean and Chelsea’s Madison Beach Hotel wedding was I like to call short and sweet. Thought I didn’t get to spend the whole day with them it was like I had. After meeting them via Zoom a couple weeks before the wedding I knew it was going to be a beautiful day, and it was. From the stunning white and gold decor to the sunset that you couldn’t pay for you couldn’t have a better day.
The Madison Beach Hotel is a hidden gem in Connecticut. When I arrived there was a friendly young man working the valet parking. Now if you know any female wedding photographers you probably know that the last thing we want is someone driving our car… I might need to ask if there is vallet on the pre-wedding questionnaire to save myself the embarrassment of someone seeing that I have practically lived in my car for the last four months. There is a cute little gift shop and resort feel that made me feel transported even though I was a 45 minute drive from home.
I walked into Chelsea’s room greeted by her childhood friend who later wowed the crowd with her story involving a litter of kittens, her grandmother’s house, and picking on Chelsea’s little sister Danielle. After I finished with Chelsea’s details I headed to Sean’s room for his pre-ceremony photos. This where I was quizzed by new friend Dave on Yankees trivia. I mentioned that I was going to the game the following day (they lost). Now when people quiz me I channel my inner Mona from My Cousin Vinny, and show them that I actually know my stuff.
The ceremony was filled with laughter and tears, mostly from their 1 year old daughter. Chelsea smiled ear to ear as her mother Annmarie walked her down the aisle to Sean who was in awe of seeing the love of his life walk towards him. I was actually performed by the same officiant that Chelsea’s sister Danielle (MOH) and her brother-in-law Nick’s wedding in the same location.
After their touching vows and sealing it with a kiss we took family photos and then headed to the beach for what was one of the most beautiful sunset of the fall. The Madison Beach Hotel has some very pretty spots from the rocks that lead you to the water to the tall grass with the hotel in the background.
After the couples photos, we headed inside so they could eat and drink during their cocktail hour, which is a goal I try to meet at every wedding. They shared their first dance to I Cant Help Falling in love sung by the amazing band Sugar.. After the toasts from the bridal party. I headed out with my wrapped dinner. Though I didn’t have a long day with them I was able to get some amazing moments and photos for them, which is the goal no matter how long I am there.
