Matt and Jessica’s wedding at the Stonehurst at Hampton Valley FINALLY happened. Yes, I said finally. These two were my only couple to move from 2020 to 2021… I KNOW (said in my Monica Bing voice). When the big day arrived I was ecstatic because they were getting their day, but also I was finally meeting them. They booked me right before things got well you all know you were there (2020). I had spoken with them on the phone and loved how chill they were. They were that same relaxed fun-loving couple on their wedding day… I was so excited to meet them and their loved ones but the little ones stole the show.
Jessica may have been the most relaxed bride I have ever met, and based on my second shooter Matt was extremely relaxed as well. Not only were they relaxed their party and close family members were as well. There usually is a bridesmaid that has a freak out at some point or a mom who turns on every light in the middle of the afternoon because they think I cant take pictures in “the dark”. I mean I was with the girls for the getting ready portion, but my second shooter did not report any major freakouts (yes guys have divo moments on wedding days).
Since they had a second shooter, we were able to do a lot of photos before the ceremony which allowed them to relax before the reception introductions and a little more time for couple’s photos. Now I love a first look, but if you want that ceremony aisle moment make sure you carve out time to do photos before the ceremony to get things done beforehand.
A wedding ceremony at the Stonehurst at Hampton Valley is a sight to behold from the stunning light in the tree. If you are an MCU fan like me it reminded me of the entry to Ta Lo. The bridal party is brought to the ceremony location on a trolly that makes you feel like you are on the streets of San Francisco.
The ceremony was a perfect reflection of who they are as a couple. They had personal vows with inside jokes that made it about their relationship. They beautifully honored family members that they lost with a yellow rose placed on a chair and the family memorial table at the reception location. The ring bearer stole the show by going rouge and not gonna lie it was one of my favorite parts of the day.
After the portrait formalities, we headed into The Barns area for the reception. The speeches were heartfelt, the dances were joyous, and the cheesecake (yeah they had a cheesecake cake) was a star. The night ended with a beautiful dance between Matt, Jessica, and their son. It was a touching moment and a perfect way to end my time with them.
