Downtown Hartford Engagement Session | Fall 2021

If I could describe Taylor and Amanda’s downtown Hartford engagement session it would be adventurous. I am not the most adventurous person. I spend most days in sweats watching reality tv and movies. That doesn’t mean I am not down for a hike or trying new food. When Amanda mentioned the locations they chose for their engagement session I was excited. Now don’t get me wrong I love the normal spots a lot of people chose but this was a welcomed change.

Taylor and Amanda are so much fun to be around. Amanda and I bonded over Thanksgiving food and our disdain for being cold, while I had previously bonded with Taylor because he is a teacher in New Britain. These two made my job easy which is all a photographer can hope for.

The weather was ideal New England fall weather. There was a slight chill in the air, with a little cloud cover to give me that light I love to shoot in. It was the day after daylight savings which means the sunset at a fast rate at an earlier time.

We started the session at Riverside Park, which is right next to the Connecticut River near downtown Hartford. Taylor and Amanda took me on a short hike to a spot they hiked to while dating. It had a great view of the city and gave a great urban feel in the middle of the forest.

After the park, we headed over to the brownstones located in the heart of downtown Hartford. Amanda mentioned that a couple of weeks ago it was covered in fake snow because the area was used for a Christmas movie (details on that movie here). Thankfully the area looked like fall in Connecticut and not winter. While we were there they got some really fun shots on a scooter. This was a first for me, but I loved it. It showed their fun side, which I love capturing for couples.

I know I say this in every engagement session blog, but I am so excited for their wedding next year. It is going to be beautiful and so much fun

Thank you again to Taylor and Amanda for choosing me to capture your big day. Let the countdown begin.
