Spotted…..
Grace Makayla in NYC for her birthday session. She is turning 10 and her aunt, a family and wedding photographer, is making a big deal about this. First, she was seen playing Roblox on her tablet, while riding the train from CT. Next, she took in the art scene at the Met. Followed by a stroll in Central Park. She was dressed in a white dress with rhinestone trimmed pockets. Though it was a Tuesday, and not a Friday night, she toured the city in heels. Last, she was seen sharing a frozen hot chocolate with her aunt. How did this session come about? That’s a secret I’d love to tell.

The NYC Birthday Session Details
This birthday session has been in the works for about a year now. I wanted to celebrate my niece’s entering into double digits in a big way. I love shooting in the city, so I thought a session in the city would be perfect.
The Theme
I love buying books for my nieces. Knowing that I would be doing Grace’s shoot in NYC I had the perfect book in mind. When I was in third grade I loved a book called The Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler. A story about two kids who spend the night in The Met. I bought it for her to read before our trip.

We had such a great time looking at the artwork while taking portraits in between. The staff was so friendly and told us where we could find good spots for pictures. Our favorite exhibit definitely was the Parisian inspired furniture.

After the museum, the two of us headed over to Central Park because some of our favorite movies were filmed there (ELF and Home Alone).
