Ashley and Kevin
I have known Ashley since she was about nine, so I have basically watched her grow up. When she asked me to shoot her wedding I was truly honored. I always treat clients as if they were family, but this time it is in a way. Fun fact: My sister is actually a bridesmaid in the wedding. The engagement session at Southford Falls wasn’t just another shoot it was like catching up with a friend.
Ashley and Kevin’s Southford Falls Engagement Session
When planning an engagement there two different approaches that really seem to work. First, is picking a location that is meaningful to the couple’s relationship, like where they had their first date. Or it is a location that fits the theme of the wedding. For this shoot, we chose the latter. Ashley and Kevin’s wedding is in the fall of this year and Ashley wanted a place with great foliage to fo with their fall theme. I have shot at Southford Falls in the past so I knew it was a great spot in the fall time. Now like every season in New England the foliage didn’t make much of an appearance last fall, but thanks to Ashley’s shopping trips at Hobby Lobby we were able to get a beautiful fall shoot.
Ashley also wanted to involve their dog Bubba in the shoot. Having a dog in an engagement session is pretty common, so I knew that was definitely doable. In fact, I think most of my engagement sessions have had dogs in them. Bubba was a pretty chill dog the only thing was it was a gorgeous day so the other dogs at the park kept distracting him.
The session went pretty smoothly. We did some shots with Bubba and without. I made sure we went to various spots in this small Connecticut treasure in order to give them variety.
I cannot wait until their wedding this fall, because I know it is going to be beautiful with Ashley’s DIY touches.
