Meet The Future Murdys
I have met couples in many different ways. Whether it is a referral from a past couple or friend. I have met them through online directories. I met Megan like how a lot of couples meet these days: Facebook. This time, I actually introduced myself in the DMs (I’m not a creep I swear). After booking, I sent the normal welcome emails including the engagement session. I encouraged them to pick a place of meaning and Megan decided since a lot of their date nights are in New Haven, Yale would be a perfect spot for their engagement session.
About the Yale Engagement Session
Rain Rain Go Away.. and It Did
Like most days in New England summers, rain was in the forecast. I think I downloaded two extra weather apps to see if we could have the shoot or not. We made the call to just change the time and work with what we had… Thank goodness we did. One, because the city oh New Haven was practically empty so it was like we had Yale all to ourselves. Two, because the light was perfection. They did order umbrellas just incase but we never needed them…
Beauty Begins the Moment you Decide to Be Yourself – Coco Chanel
In the engagement session email and the welcome magazine I send every couple, I mention the best way to dress for an engagement session. I tell couples to pick a dressy outfit and a casual outfit. Megan for her dressy pictures picked this cute blue dress from Lulus and changed into jeans and a tank top. Eric basically changed his shirt, but it was a Captain American shirt, and as a Marvel fan I liked it.
Take Me Back to the Start – Coldplay
We started the session in front of the Sterling Memorial Library. This spot of the Yale campus is usually very crowded, but since a “storm” was on the way it was a ghost town. Like most buildings at Yale the doors are my favorite feature. The library was no exception.
Thank You Next- Ariana Grande
We followed the stunning library with the various gates that make Yale one of my favorite places to shoot. At one point I stopped them in front of a gate, and had them dance to A King of Wishful Thinking by Go West.
Captain Casual
The second half of the shoot featured two things that mean something to Megan and Eric: Marvel and sneakers. From sitting on the theater steps to silhouettes in a random alcove the second half was just as beautiful as the first. The session concluded with the sunsetting in the perfectly lit sky.

GEM Loves Teachers
Megan is a first grade teacher, so she is enjoying the benefits of the GEM Loves Teachers Program… We all know that teachers are underpaid, over worked, and are going through a-lot right now. That is why I created the GEM Loves Teachers program… For more info on that visit the site here.
