Eve and John’s Elizabeth Park engagement session was one for the books. I, like most photographers in CT, have shot at Elizabeth Park more than once. Elizabeth Park is a hot spot for photography. I in fact have a photo with my siblings in the rose garden, and one of my favorite photos I have taken of my nieces is at Elizabeth Park in the same spot as the photo above.
The evening we did this session the park was full of sessions… But thanks to my magical skills (lens choices, composition, and location experience) I was able to make CT’s photo grand central station like they had the park all to themselves.
Eve contacted me after seeing this session at Harkness Memorial State Park with her friends from college on Facebook. Both of them are teachers as well so they were able to take advantage of the GEM Loves Teachers pricing
Like I mentioned before, I have shot at Elizabeth Park many times before this session, but this time was one of the best. The flowers were in full bloom. The weather was pretty comfortable, well for me since I didn’t have to wear a suit like poor John. The only downside was the crowd but since it was a Monday it wasn’t too bad.
I started in a less crowded location in order to ease them into the session. They also started in a casual session outfit with jeans. This allows them to learn how to pose while comfortable. It’s a tip I give to my couples in the engagement session guide. After taking some get comfortable photos in the woods, we moved to the area right near The Pond House Cafe which has more privacy and a cute little covered bridge with flowers around it.
The second outfit was fancier which went well with the garden that was filled with beautiful flowers. I have never seen flowers that beautiful before. In fact, the grounds were probably the best I have ever seen. These photos are my favorite because you can tell that they are more comfortable in front of the camera and more relaxed.
After some photos on the bridge, we headed to my favorite spot to take photos at sunset. The path and trees bring variety and glowy light that you don’t get in the center of the park. It went by so fast, as it usually does but it was definitely time well spent.
