Meet Shelby and Oda

I can’t believe it is already November! That means engagement season is right around the corner. What better time to finally share Shelby and Oda’s Elizabeth Park engagement session? Even though this session is from this summer, I am sharing it now because I thought I had already posted it right after. I prepped the photos and everything, but I must have dreamed that I posted it because here we are in late fall.

I have shot at Elizabeth Park many times… So I didn’t have to scout the area before… I know where the good light is based on the time of day. I know how to shoot at this photography hotspot to make it look like it was just the three of us. The only thing unfamiliar was the future bride and groom. Of course, we corresponded before but we never met. But in typical engagement session fashion, we were new friends and hugged goodbye by the end.

Shelby and Oda are two of the chillest people I have ever met. Me being a pretty chill person myself I tend to attract other chill people. This allowed us to work at a comfortable pace, which produced some of my favorite engagement photos.

We started in the shaded area that I always start with at every session at Elizabeth Park. It is a nice quiet area with some of my favorite light. Then we made our way over the stone bridge to the gardens… It was in the planted garden we staged a picnic with the most beautiful light that framed them perfectly. I ended the session in the tall grass, which is a hidden gem. Though the park is not Central Park big I love all of the variety I was able to give them.
