Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station Wedding Story
On a mild spring day in May, Jenny and Graham got married and the day they dreamed about became a reality. Their Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station wedding was also special for me because I was able to reunite with an old friend, an old GEM couple, and return to a location that I shot in the early days of my photography journey. But that’s all I will say about me cause this day was not about me but the two love birds seen above.
The day began like most, me with the bride and her entourage and the second shooter (Heather) with the Groom and his. The bride got ready in one of her matrons of honor home, who also was the old friend I told you about a moment ago. After a quick catch-up, I got into the details of purple, grey, and white while getting in candids. According to the second shooter, the groom was constantly on the move so candids were the majority on that front.
The ceremony took place in the chapel on the grounds of Camp Bethel, where Jenny and Graham grew up together and a place that is a cornerstone of their love story. A place so special that is where they had their engagement session. This time instead of yellow and orange leaves the trees had that fresh green adornment.
The white chapel, found in the center of the cottages (owned by some of the guests), was decorated with soft fabrics and flowers. Fun Fact: The flowers were designed by the bride’s mother. Though it as an old chapel there was so much light from the large windows, and this photographer said “amen” to that.
After family photos with one of the best views in town behind them, we did a mix of bridal party and romantic couple photos. We took the back way out of the camp to get some classic spring woodland photos. I remember the light being amazing there during their engagement sessions, so a quick hop out of our vehicles would be worth it…. And it was.
The reception at the Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station felt like I was at a family party at someone’s house, and not like a formal lunch at a popular wedding banquet room. It was, but it didn’t feel like it. Yes, there were the normal reception formalities, but it felt like a normal family gathering. Taking photos is so much easier at these types of weddings because comfortable people are easier to photograph.
After the cutting of the cake and shoe game, the dance floor was never empty. The bride and groom shared a sweet dance, where they were able to celebrate what the day was all about. The two of them.
